*What Affects Your Dog’s Bathing Price?
Bath prices vary based on your dog’s coat, behavior, and grooming needs. Here’s what may increase cost:
(1) Dog Size & Coat Type
- Larger dogs with thick or curly coats require more time and product.
- A long-coated Labradoodle will cost more than a short-haired Pit Bull of the same size.
(2) Brushing & De-shedding Time
- Extra brushing adds time, especially for undercoats or longer hair.
- Doodles, Huskies, and Shepherds often need more coat care.
(3) Behavior & Temperament
Nervous or reactive dogs may need more time and gentle handling.
How to Keep Bathing Costs Down
Brush at Home Regularly
- Regular brushing prevents matting and cuts down our brushing time.
- Doodles: 2–3x per week (daily if long-haired)
Huskies/undercoats: 2+ times per week - Not sure how often? Ask us—we’re happy to help!
Practice Handling at Home
- Touch your dog’s paws, ears, and face gently to get them used to grooming.
- Use a cool hair dryer to desensitize them to sound/sensation.
- Reward calm behavior during brushing.
Maintain Coat Health
- Brushing helps—but regular trims prevent breakage, matting, and faster re-tangling.
- For long coats, many clients alternate between a bath and a groom on a schedule.
- This helps prevent costly matting and those dreaded shave-downs.
Specialty Grooming
Large & Double-Coated Breeds
Bernese Mountain Dogs, Newfoundlands, Great Pyrenees, Huskies, Malamutes, and other large double-coated breeds are stunning, but their thick coats need regular maintenance to stay healthy and comfortable.
At Four-Legged Fun Zone, we extend additional time for these gentle giants so we can:
– Fully brush out the undercoat
– Use coat-safe de-shedding shampoo and conditioner
– Blow-dry to the skin for complete drying
– Tidy feet, feathering, and sanitary areas
– Provide gentle, low-stress handling in our one-on-one setup
With consistent grooming, your dog will feel lighter, cooler, and mat-free. Our grooming approach protects their double coat and prevents unnecessary shaving.
Puppy Grooming (First Visits & Training Grooms)
Puppy grooming sets the foundation for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences. At Four-Legged Fun Zone, we specialize in gentle first visits, short appointments, and patient handling to help your puppy learn that grooming is safe and enjoyable. Each puppy session includes a bath with gentle shampoo, blow-dry, nail trim, ear cleaning, brushing, and a light face/feet/sanitary tidy if tolerated. We introduce tools slowly and work at your puppy’s pace, focusing on confidence-building rather than perfection.
Doodle Grooming – Curly, Wavy & Everything In Between
Doodles are adorable—but their coats are anything but low maintenance. At Four-Legged Fun Zone, we specialize in grooming Goldendoodles, Labradoodles, Bernedoodles, and other Doodle mixes with coat types ranging from tight Poodle curls to plush “teddy bear” waves, retriever-like straighter coats, dense double coats, and even wiry, terrier-style hair.
Because no two Doodles are alike, we tailor each groom to your dog’s specific coat type and lifestyle. Our focus is on preventing painful mats, managing shedding, and keeping the coat at a length you can realistically maintain at home. We’ll talk through your goals (cute and fluffy vs. lower-maintenance shorter styles), recommend the right tools (long-pin slicker + metal comb), and help you choose a grooming schedule that works—often every 4–6 weeks for curly/wavy coats and 6–10 weeks for straighter, double, or wiry coats.
The result: a Doodle who looks adorable, feels comfortable, and stays mat-free between visits.
