Why Regular Dog Nail Trims Are Important
- Broken Nails: Overly long nails are susceptible to breaking, which can cause significant pain and lead to limping. A broken nail may require veterinary care to prevent further issues.
- Infections: Ingrown nails can break the skin, leading to infections that may spread if not treated promptly. Signs to watch for include swelling and discoloration around the nail.
- Mobility Problems: Long nails can hinder your dog’s ability to maintain proper footing, making walking or standing difficult. Regular trims help ensure your dog can move safely and comfortably.
- Long-Term Health Issues: Overgrown nails can alter your dog’s walking pattern, leading to uneven weight distribution and increased strain on their joints. This can result in chronic pain and conditions like arthritis over time.
