You may be tempted to share some of your favorite drinks with your beloved pet dog, but before doing so, know that not everything we enjoy is okay for them. Some of the treats we enjoy on a regular basis are even poisonous to dogs.
We’ll highlight those poisonous foods in two separate articles. For this article, we’ll focus on five items we commonly enjoy as drinks that should never be given to dogs.
Alcoholic Beverages
There is no situation wherein you should give your dog any kind of alcoholic beverage. Alcohol is almost like poison to them and it can lead to diarrhea, vomiting, and even more serious issues such as your dog falling into a coma or possibly dying, according to the ASPCA.
Coffee
With insufficient dog training, your pet may think it’s acceptable to hop up on to your table and take a few sips of your coffee. Make sure that never happens because certain substances found in coffee can cause dogs to experience diarrhea and even seizures.
Chocolate Beverages
Just about every dog owner knows that chocolate is bad for dogs, but it’s still a point worth repeating here. Chocolate contains substances that can put your pet in grave danger. While you should completely avoid giving your dog any type of chocolate, the darker kind is more life-threatening.
Coconut Milk
Compared to some of the other items mentioned in this article, coconut milk does not pose as serious of a threat. Still, you probably don’t want to give your dog diarrhea so steer him/her clear of coconut milk.
Milk
Plain old milk is not going to be the reason why your dog needs to go to the veterinarian right away. However, milk can still cause diarrhea. For the sake of your pet and your home, avoid giving your dog milk.
